3 Floors of excellent art from 20 different countries. Favorites include various glazed ceramics and a rare money tree. Also enjoyed the superb statues of Krishna and Guanyin. Staff in the gift shop are very friendly and COVID compliant.
Really nice collection of religious and secular pieces. It's more than just China Korea and Japan which is refreshing. In was there in the middle of the week and of course Covid is still active so there weren't many people there. It's worth the $15 admission.
I love Asian culture since university. It is a fantastic museum and I really recommend you walk through all floors and places! Every time I come I discover more and more interesting things. I like to study the history of artifacts (QR codes are quite helpful). Overall, a beautiful place, spacious!
Decent collection of objects from a wide range of time at a very good entry price. A good place to start for those unitiated in the study of Asian history. The China and Japan collections are particularly good for North America.
This museum is great! Their extensive collection gives a very good sense of the lineage of Asian art from ancient times to the present moment. Their website is also very resourceful.
Awesome museum even for your toddler. The aquarium, butterfly rainforest & the penguin feeding is incredible.
Another tip: EV charging on first level of car park at furtherest entrance to the car park entrance. $5/hr parking with a 15 min grace for dropping off/pickups
One of the best museums I've been to. Much better and with more interesting artefacts than the one in Paris. I could wander there for hours, reading detailed descriptions and admiring art from cultures that are so unique to a European. I was lucky to get in for free, but I won't mind paying full price next time I'm in San Fran.
When I first came here on a class trip in September of 2018 and I'd like to say that this place is just so serene and relaxing. Though since it was a class trip, me and my classmates were able to enter for free. The regular fee is $15 for adults. There are two floors of exhibits and I really recommend for people to go through it all. In my opinion, every item on display in this museum is worth the read if you have the time because the history behind it all is just so unique and beautiful! I do suggest for people to not talk very loud since the museum does have a slight echo and the rooms are extremely silent. There is also a large cafe on the first floor with a variety of Asian food on the menu and I really recommend their banh mi! Do take in mind that the temperature of this place is slightly cold so make sure to bring a coat or jacket because I took off my coat thinking it was a little warm when in fact it was cold. If you can, take the time to look through the items in the gift shop. I bought some matcha from here which was quite good, but do keep in mind that everything in the store is a little expensive. Other than that, this is a wonderful place to visit.
Wow this museum massive. The exbits are highly detailed and its one of the only places open during the covid pandemic due tue it's spacious exhibits!
