The Fabled El Cid! They make a mean margarita! A unique restaurant with A LOT of space and indoor and outdoor seating! A Los Angeles landmark, El Cid should be on your list of LA Mexican eateries. It's been around for a long time for a reason!
I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant/bar. Firstly, it is quite definitely NOT wheelchair accessible. There is NOT an accessible entrance and there is NOT an accessible bathroom. I make sure to check all establishments before going because I use a wheelchair, so I went to El Cid under the impression that it was completely accessible (I live an hour away mind you) because it is explicitly stated. There were stairs at both entrances—the street entrance had two flights of stairs & the rear also had a few steps—the bathroom was narrow/cramped & there were a few tiny stalls, NONE that were wheelchair accessible—and even the dance floor had a step up to it with no ramp. It’s irresponsible and harmful to list something as ADA compliant when it is very obviously not. Secondly, besides this debauchery, the food/drinks were expensive and lousy. 0/5 stars.
Never ate here but have been for shows and love the space. Beer selection is wayyy below par in LA and drink prices are a bit higher than they should be for the selection. Otherwise good space and good people.
Great place to meet up with friends for a meal and a few drinks. Nights with live flamingo dancing and live music are even more fun in the low lit fiesta surroundings. I like to chill at the outside patio bar and chat with new people. You get people from all walks of life here.
